Resident Return Visas (RRV) Subclass 155 & 157
Unrestricted travel to and from Australia is a privilege exclusive to Australian citizens. For those who either do not wish to or are not yet eligible for Australian citizenship, maintaining permanent residency is possible through the use of Resident Return visas (RRV).
The RRV serves current or former Australian permanent residents, as well as former Australian citizens, who wish to travel abroad and subsequently return to Australia as permanent residents once the travel facility on their permanent visa has expired.
Typically, permanent residency visas include a five-year travel facility from the date of visa issuance, which allows the visa holder to leave and re-enter Australia. When this travel facility is nearing its expiration or has already expired, permanent residents are advised to secure a Resident Return visa to ensure continuous access to Australia as a permanent resident.
Australian Citizenship
The ultimate legal milestone in your immigration journey is becoming an Australian Citizen. This process involves a non-Australian citizen willingly adopting Australian Citizenship. Upon pledging their allegiance to Australia and its inhabitants, Australian citizens are granted the nation’s protection and are entitled to exercise their civic rights and duties. Only Australian Citizens have the right to travel to and from Australia unconditionally.
