pARENT VISA
Comparison of Different Parent Visas (Updated in 07.2024)
Parent (Permanent) Visa Subclass 103
Parents of Australian Permanent Residents, Citizens and eligible New Zealand Citizens may be eligible for the subclass 103 Parent Visa. Once this visa is granted, the applicant will be a permanent resident of Australia. The processing period of this visa is currently estimated to be up to 50 years, and sponsorship is required.
Aged Parent Visa subclass 804
The Aged Parent Visa subclass 804 is an almost identical companion to the subclass 103 Parent Visa. This visa is designed instead for applicants who are of Australian pension age.
Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa Subclass 173
Due to the unrealistic waiting times of the parent visas, the Australian government has since introduced the Contributory Parent Visa. As the name may suggest, the contribution payment allows applicants to otherwise jump the queue. The subclass 173 visa processes faster than the subclass 143 visa and does not require the Assurance of Support. It allows a direct transition to the subclass 143 visa. The subclass 173 visa does require an eligible Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen sponsor.
Contributory Parent (Permanent) Visa subclass 143
The subclass 143 Contributory Parent Visa is a direct application for permanent residency for eligible visa applicants. It can be applied for either from a subclass 173 visa, or directly on its own merits. As per the name, the application does incur a contribution payment, and requires an Assurance of Support. The visa applicant must be sponsored by an eligible Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa subclass 884
The Contributory Aged Parent Visa subclass 884 is an almost identical companion to the subclass 173 Contributory Parent Visa. This visa is designed instead for applicants who are of Australian pension age.
Contributory Aged Parent (Permanent) Visa subclass 864
The Contributory Aged Parent Visa subclass 864 is an almost identical companion to the subclass 143 Contributory Parent Visa. This visa is designed instead for applicants who are of Australian pension age.
